WGA Antipiracy Mechanism Adapted to XP SP3

Designed to inform the end users that their operating system has failed to pass the Windows Genuine Advantage Validation process, the WGA Notifications component is now set up to integrate seamlessly not only with XP SP2 but also with Service Pack 3. While avoiding terminology such as "pirated" and "counterfeit," WGA Notifications will provide end users running Windows XP copies detected as non-genuine with the necessary information and assistance for them to get valid licenses for the operating system.
"Windows Genuine Advantage Notifications notifies you if a copy of Microsoft Windows XP is not genuine. The notification messages only appear on computers that have failed the Windows Genuine Advantage validation process and that are running a copy of Windows XP that is not genuine. If you are running a validated, genuine copy of Windows XP, you will not receive notification messages," reads an excerpt from the tools description.
Microsoft has failed to reveal the changes, if any, implemented in the WGA Notifications update, but the WindowsXP-KB905474-ENU-x86.exe file has gone live on the Download Center on August 25, and in this context it is different from the WindowsXP-KB905474-ENU-x86-Standalone.exe release dating back to early 2007. The only visible difference is in terms of the supported operating systems where Windows XP SP2 is featured alongside XP SP3.
With the release of Service Pack 3 for Windows XP, Microsoft has adapted the installation process and activation mechanism of the platform to match that of Windows Vista. Not only are XP SP3 users installing the client no longer required to enter the product key during the deployment phase, but the product now benefits from a 30-day activation-free trial period.

software piracy cannot be prevented, but if nothing is done to stop software piracy,
nobody will just buy windows. in this way, microsoft's employees have no money to earn
and they will not work. windows will therefore stop developing as a result. think of a
long vision, if you want something good, there is always a price to pay... nobody wastes
their precious time away just to get nothing.
sounds great ! however, a statement that a company like microsoft - known for its
questionable privacy policy - "has failed to reveal the changes" is quite worrying and i
wanted to know more about it.
i googled for the following:

kb905474: i got only one result at microsoft. the article is outdated (march 7, 2007) and
refers to an older version of this damn tool !

strange indeed ...
i managed to get copies
of both the older and the latest version of the tool. i then extracted the archives and
compared their contents. at first sight, there is no difference as for the number and
names of files. the new version number is 1.8.16.0 and the file "wgatray.exe" was
renamed microsoft genuine advantage - updates all of ms installed products (was windows
genuine advantage - updates only windows).
we now come to the unrevealed change
(a major one indeed !) the former versions of the tool presented the user with an eula
(end-user legal agreement). in this specific case, the eula specified - amongst others
information about your system (for example, your windows product key and ip
address) will be sent to microsoft. microsoft will not use the information to identify or
contact you.

using this feature, you consent to the transmission and use of the above computer
information. microsoft does not use the information to identify or contact you.
the eula has disappeared in version 1.8.16.0 of the tool ! now, what happens when you
install a fresh xp sp3 and update it from microsoft website ? well, microsoft installs the
tool automatically without asking for permission and starts violating your privacy without
your knowledge ... (product key, ip address, aso).

all cracks for sp2 work for sp3 :p
that's what i like to call it. but i'm glad that i finally got around to reinstalling
the "genuine" xp home from my laptop's recovery disc. barely noticing any difference
from pro.
i used proper capitalisation in my post, and the script decided to set it all to
lowercase! very funny...
also i wonder if the vista discs finally have some
form of encryption on them lol... i've always wondered why ms never seems to "protect"
its media. then again, plain copying is useless without circumventing the wga process. i
got tired of mublinder.
m$ is just stupid! if they continue with that, everybody will change to linux or
something similar (not to macs too!).

who help promote new software and allow lamers and p2p people know about leaked releases

couldn't install my legal copy of xp professional (desktop) onto my second computer
(laptop) so i installed the latest version of ubuntu on the laptop instead (free). it's
working quite well and doesn't seem to have any wga stuff!

and seek this post:

click on the mark
giving a side of the box and then click to give "fix checked"

definitely clears the process that verifies the original software
lol, who cares? just use a vlk key. i never face any troubles of that wga shit.
