Lightscribing a Inkjet Disc

Postby lsdmeasap » Wed Mar 19, 2008 4:06 am

Can you do this or will it kill your lightscribe drive? Or just burn up the inkjet disk and still trash your drive?

Any thoughts? Google was no help except to tell me how to use either :?

Ahh, I just got some inkjet discs and I order normal ones so I was just wondering if the could be lightscribe labeled or should I not even risk it and just use pens on them? They were free so it dont matter, I just wondered

It just would not work and probably stuff it....

The laser inside a CD/DVD disc drive with LightScribe technology focuses light energy onto a thin dye coating on the label side of the disc. Only LightScribe media has this special coating.

The light from the laser causes a chemical change in the dye coating that shows up on the disc. With laser precision, the drive renders the text and images that you created for the label.

Ya I kinda thought so, and Thought the drive may tell me NO anyway since it can tell what disc's are what. Just thought I would ask and see if anyone had done it.

But yeah it probably isnt worth a try even it the drive would do it

Litescibeing a non litescribe disk

Postby daymang » Wed Mar 19, 2008 10:30 am

Hi,
A guy I know tried it:
Melted the disc, which gummed up the drive, so new re-witer required.
Moral: Don't try litescibing a non-litescribe disc

AHAHA, yea I kinda thought it might. But stranger things have worked so I thought I ought to ask and see if anyone had done it!

Glad I asked before stupidly trying!

Thanks guys
